FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Community Members,
In the 2016-2017 school year, Baker High School received a rating of Level 4 on four of the five Performance indicators. Although the state is not assigning overall school ratings, the marks we received in those indicator areas are encouraging.
Our assessment scores in English Language Arts, Mathematics and Science are all well above the state average. In addition, our graduation rate continues to be far above the state average, and our dropout rate continues to decrease, now falling to 1.3%. However, while our academic performance encourages us, we recognize that there is room for improvement, and we will continue to focus on targeted areas of growth.
Math scores continue to be an area of emphasis towards improvement. To address this concern, we are implementing a new blended curriculum with online diagnostic tools in our lowest level math courses. We piloted this program last Spring and found some positive effects on student performance and engagement.
Please feel free to stop by Baker High School or call and schedule an appointment if you would like to discuss the contents of the report card further. It is our goal to increase parent participation, and we welcome parent feedback regarding school.
